Since 2009, the Cáca Milis Cabaret has been hosted and coordinated by Helena Mulkerns mostly at the Wexford Arts Centre and at Arthur’s in Dublin. For the new decade it transforms into “Cabaret 19” and while the programme will still feature a vaudevillian style evening of the arts with anything from new music, dance, short film, jazz, comedy and more, it is streamlining its framework to present an even more exciting blend of emerging and established artists, and taking the show to Dublin as well as Wexford for regular performances.

Accompanied for the last five years by singer songwriter Josh Johnston, the cabaret has presented more than 600 performers from Wexford and farther afield at its alma mater, The Wexford Arts Centre, as well as other venues in Dublin, Limerick, Wicklow, Wales and Electric Picnic.

Down the years our literary guests have included Colm Tóibín, Mary O’Donnell, Dermot Bolger, Philip Casey, Peter Murphy,  Eoin Colfer, Louise O’Neill, Emer Martin, Eamon Carr and many others.  Our musical guests range from Eleanor McEvoy or Jack L to the formidable Reverend JM’s Panic Worship, the unforgettable Miss Truly Divine, the melodious Sister Saint, the multi-dimensional Man Whom, Corner Boy, The Poison Hearts, The Revelator Orchestra, David Turpin, Alice Jago, Lorraine McColgan and again … many more.  With some fantastic photographers and videographers on board to record all this down the years, we are in the process of uploading some galleries that will reflect this diversity.   Circus performers include Wales’s Christopher Dafydd, and comedians such as  Carlo Jacucci, Paul Tylak and Kevin McAteer have made us laugh.  Dancers have made us sigh and swoon in any capacity from sultry tango to luscious bellydance, kickass Irish Sean Nós and contemporary conceptual.  And we have to give special mention our fondness for the stars of the Irish Burlesque firmament who have graced our stage, from the legendary Bella A GoGo to Kat Moiselle to Azaria Starfire, Missy Fortune or Raven Curly.   There have been large choirs.  And many Welsh people, welcomed as part of our collaboration with the Coracle project some years hence, run by Dominic Williams.

We invite you to come along to one of our shows, contact us about a slot to perform with us, or (important) sponsor or support us if you can, since our multiple-slot format brings you at least eight wonderful artists on any given evening.  Do check out our galleries and our upcoming shows and pass on the word!
